Reviews
Overall pricey stuffs, the sushi were not very fresh, below expectation of what I was expecting when dining in Nobu.
Miso black cod was good, had a special unique taste.
Spiny lobster was fresh and was deshell so it was easy to eat
Hoba yaki - the meat was good and done-ness was on point, however I find the sauces a bit overpowering to pair with the Wagyu as it cover the smell and texture of the steak
It was an invited dinner as such I didn’t have to pay for it. For this price point, I would have chosen any venue if im paying for the dinner.
Weekend brunch buffet was fantastic and exceeded expectations given lacklustre ratings on Google, which we personally found was undeserved.
The cold buffet section, albeit a bit limited, is good quality and I really loved the guacamole, chips and sashimi section. Having said that, where this buffet shines is definitely the free flow hot food selections from their menu - the cod and steak in particular. That is where most of your stomach space should be saved for.
Pricey? Sure, but it’s Nobu and the quality was worth it, in our opinion. In terms of highlights - the miso black cod absolutely hit the spot although the third portion we ordered was fishier, we still loved it. The F1 Japanese beef came in 2 styles, toban (sizzling skillet) or steak, and we preferred the steak version as it was cleaner tasting and retained the melt-in-the-mouth texture.
Service was faultless - the young man attending to our table was great and unfortunately his name escapes me but he was professional, warm and attentive.
We will definitely be back to treat ourselves one day soon!
3.3/5 (2/5 food; 5/5 service; 3/5 atmosphere). The review is based on the reputation it has and thus scrutinized a bit more. We came for the singapore restaurant week. After hearing great things about Nobu, we decided to try. We felt that the food was very average. Nothing fantastic, but not bad. We were expecting a bit more in terms of quality. The firat entrees was very simple, something you could find at izakaya for a third of the price. Food was unbalanced, either too much lemon, ginger, salt etc. which we weren't expecting from this caliber restaurant. And the bill was waay too high for the quality provided. Service was great, very friendly staff and super attentive. No faults could be found in the service. The atmosphere is a bit crammed and had that hotel feeling to it. Will try again perhaps with the a la cart menu.
Purchased the Taste of Nobu Weekend Brunch KrisFlyer Experience and we had an absolutely fabulous time! From the get go the service was impeccable. We reached a few minutes before 11am and were told to wait at the bar first, but was immediately ushered in at 11am to our table. The server brought the menu and carefully explained what was included in our package.
Starting from the cold buffet, we tried their variety of sushi which was super fresh! My fave would be the yellowtail jalapeno, it wasn't spicy, but it had just enough kick to make your tongue dance. The seafood ceviche was nice too.
For the exclusive selection, we obviously choose the Lobster salad with spicy lemon dressing and toban yaki A5 wagyu beef. Usually we would be quite sceptical when ordering a lobster because the meat can be tough and too chewy. That wasn't the case here. It was so sweet and easy to bite. The spicy lemon dressing really compliment the lobster and make it a very refreshing dish.
The wagyu beef was just... A mah zing! 😍 it definitely earn the spot as my no. 1 fave out of all the dishes we've tried. Served on a hotplate, it was a simple but cooked to perfection. The taste was so tender, rich, buttery, sweet and savoury all melt in your mouth.
By this time we were starting to get full, but lo and behold, we still have 12 more hot dishes to go! So we decided to just focused on the ones we wanted to try and skipped the rest.
The rock shrimp tempura with creamy spicy sauce is SO good. It was coated in sauce but when you bite into it, it was soo crispy. The sauce was on the heavy side that we ended up strugling to finish (but we did finished it 🤭).
The 2 fish dishes: the black cod miso and umami chillean sea bass were really nice as well. I liked the black cod more than the sea bass because the sauce was sweeter, but my husband like the seabass more as it taste lighter compared to the black cod.
We didn't expect much of the seafood toban yaki and the josper charcoal grilled spring chicken, but we were pleasantly surprised. The chicken was really fragant and the skin has a nice crisp.
By this time our tummies were about to explode, but we can't bear to finish the brunch without trying the difference between F1 beef steak and F1 beef toban yaki. I can tell you for sure, always choose toban yaki style. The steak was a bit tough, but the toban yaki beef was sooo tender! It was a nice closing dish to our brunch journey.
We did try the desserts, but I can't comment too much as we both are not desserts person and we thought the desserts was a tad too sweet for our taste. They were super cute tho!
Everything including the non-alcoholic drinks were already part of the package so we only paid $40 for the free flow of sake for hubby.
All in all we thouroughly enjoyed our dining experience in Nobu and 10 /10 will definitely go again when we get a chance ❤️❤️
Mgmt pls turn down the music volume, it is just too loud to have a decent conversation with the one sitting next to you. It is like a night club less off the rotating disco lights !
Tables next to windows are arranged so near to each other that we couldnt even get out from the couch. We had to request the staff to change tables but they seem dumb to understand how hard it is to move out from the tight position.
Placed order for a coke and I had to ask for 3x from different server and yet it is not served ! Why? Does NOBU needs to manufacture the Coke from raw ingredients? It is sub par standards really !
Hot foods are just average other than the miso black cod fish which is the best dish, meat is cooked perfectly, just soft & tender and not undercook.
Sushi are probably their best as well, rest of the foods are just average. The chicken wings are a shame, they should just remove it and replace with karaage chicken and real big prawn tempura.
Desserts are also nothing to rave about, just average in terms of looks and taste. What is that banana cake? Looks and taste cheap. I would expect cheesecake or red velvet or strawberry cake something of these sorts. Those macaroons with coconut bits on top are so yucky.
For this price almost S$500 for 2pax, I expect excellent service & ambience with good food served. Just another wannabe place, nothing classy !
Went to Nobu in August and had the Omakase. Food was really good and unique. Service was outstanding. Staff that attended to us were well trained and friendly. Celebrated my birthday too and was given a glass of champagne. Ambience was good with no crowd as it was a weekday evening.
I was also given a birthday card signed by all staff in the restaurant. Shoutout to Judah, the general manager for the excellent customer service and the great chat. A wonderful experience and will be back to celebrate special occasions.
Definitely recommend this restaurant for celebrations of any kind. It is equal parts romantic, social, welcoming yet cool. I have to say our night was certainly amplified by the fact that Chef Nobu himself was in town, and took time to chat, joke and pose for photos with us.
Always wanted to try this place, especially to see how if compares with the one at Crown in Sydney.
It is set off from the hotel slightly, with a nice garden and a small bar area. The walkway from the main restaurant door to the actual restaurant is covered, but you can get slightly wet when it rains.
The dining area is brightly lit with natural light streaming in through the floor to ceiling windows. The decor is pretty nice, and we especially liked the display of plates with red highlights near the serving bar.
The food came in a bento box of two layers, and featured some delicious sushi. We especially loved the rock prawn tempura, which were freshly made, but these could have been slightly larger. We also liked the seared tuna and the accompanying salad. The miso cod was another favourite.
The garlic rice and chilli vegetables seemed like an afterthought, and did not add much to the set other than to bulk up on carbs.
We thought this was an opportunity missed to showcase some signature dish, albeit with small portions, rather than the rice, though perhaps costs were a consideration.
Service was good, though the music was too loud, so much so that conversation was a little difficult.
